“We really enjoyed returning to Heather Cottage and had a fantastic week with sunshine every day.  There were times when it was even too hot to eat out on the veranda! We hope to return sometime in the future.”

Mr & Mrs C Allison, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, UK. July 2018

“We had 3 perfect days in Port Appin.  Our young kids and us loved the view from Heather, the landscape beautiful. The possibilities for daytrips for example Lismore by bike and the “Seafari”-Tour from Easdale. Our time in the lovely cottage was really too short and we hopefully will come back.”

Frau S Weber, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. May 2018.

“Perfectly situated within walking distance of the pub and shop the cottages have one of the best views across Loch Linnhe in Port Appin.  Comfortable and well equipped this is a perfect place to enjoy a stay on the west coast of Scotland.”

Mr S Bavistar, Wooton-Under-Edge, Gloucestershire, UK. June 2018
“We had a relaxing week in Fern cottage which is comfortable, warm and well equipped. The most wonderful part was the view from the window overlooking Loch Linnhe as others have said, and the changing tide and weather only add to the beauty. It is lovely to be able to walk down to the loch side and to the village shop and restaurant and around the headland. A perfect place for a quiet restful holiday.
We hope to return.”
Mrs H Lambert, Loughborough, UK, September 2017

“Had a lovely stay in Heather Cottage in October. Beautiful views and peaceful location and even though the weather was a bit mixed, it was great to get away from it all for a week. The visiting deer in the field at the back were a great sight in a morning. Great for walks, relaxing and enjoying the scenery and the cottage had everything we needed.”

Mrs R Holmes, Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK. October 2017
“My sisters and I wanted to say how much we enjoyed our week at Heather cottage. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable.”
Mrs C Moig, Aberdeen, UK, August 2017
“We had a wonderful stay in Heather cottage. The cottages are perfectly located with stunning views over-looking Loch Linnhe & the mountains beyond. Our children loved wandering through the garden & down to the Loch edge to explore the shoreline. The cottage was a home from home – fully equipped for our young family. Port Appin itself & the surrounding area are beautiful with plenty to do – Cycling locally & the Lismore ferry were firm favourites as well as Port Appin’s Pierhouse hotel which offers a delicious seafood menu & friendly welcome. We will return!”
Dr L Barnicott, Winchester, UK, August 2017
“Yes, many thanks; we had a very enjoyable stay and didn’t want to come home!”
Mrs J Chamber-Todd, Royston, June 2017
“When the mist cleared and we saw the view, we said “That’s great”, then when we saw the sunset the next evening about 10pm we kept repeating “Wow…” for half an hour! The cottage is excellent, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The bedrooms were spacious with three windows in the double room. The location is brilliant, only two miles off the main road, leading to lots of scenic places in both directions.
We are already planning when we can come again!”
Mr C Allison, Bury St Edmunds, July 2017

“We had a great holiday at Linnhe Croft. Weather mixed but views to die for. Delighted with the accommodation, furnished to a high standard and very comfortable. We found plenty to do in the surrounding area- sightseeing, walking, also a good choice of places to eat. Could not be happier with our holiday.”
Mrs L Ellis, Melrose, UK, May 2017
“We had a lovely break. The weather was very kind to us and we saw some lovely sunsets over the loch. Would definitely love to come back some time.”
Mrs F Barrie, Glasgow, UK, April 2017
“We had an excellent week, just before the wee beasties, bluebells in full force, sunshine all the way, which is what you would generally hope for. Didn’t make it to Mull, but did get as far as Elgol. The weather was kinds, particularly on the Thursday evening that week, the sky was fabulous and the tide just went mirror still for about an hour between movements. A couple of shots enclosed, before and after, the first one is at the peak of the high tide, and a little while later it is all moving again. I’m sure you’ve seen it loads, but this was the best evening that week.”
Mr A Plank, Avon, UK, May 2017
“An amazing part of the world! The cottage’s are outstanding, and the people in the area are very hospitable, and friendly.
My wife and I stayed there last October, and would love to go back again to explore more of northern Scotland, especially more Whiskey Distilleries!!!
A special shout out to our host! Thanks again Barney!”

Mrs A Armstrong, Nottinghamshire, UK, September 2016
“The views are fantastic even on bad days as you say. We have had a wonderful holiday and we would definitely return if we are in this part of the country. The cottage is lovely and cosy and always a good supply of hot water and very comfy beds. Couldn’t ask for more. Great to have a sitting out area even in the rain!”
Mr & Mrs G MacDonald, Glasgow, UK, September 2016
“It’s a lovely place and so beautiful – even when it rained – which it did, frequently!”
Mr & Mrs K Booth, West Yorkshire, UK August 2016

“We had a lovely stay in Port Appin. The cottage setting is simply stunning and we felt spoiled with the uninterrupted views from the garden deck. We’ll definitely be back again to explore the area some more as there is so much to do. We stayed with two small kids and the cottage was perfect for our family – there were even some toys there for them to play with.”

Mr & Mrs G Taylor, Renfrew, Scotland, July 2016
“The cottage was excellent – one of the best I have been to.
Weather was good too – typical West Highland but with enough good weather to get out every day”.
Mr & Mrs Gardiner, Midlothian, Scotland, July 2016
“We spent two weeks at Fern Cottage. These were the most fantastic two weeks we ever had in Scotland. The Cottage is spacious, light and very well furnished and equipped. The views on the lake and the Lismore Island are fantastic. There are very many things to see and to do in the nearby area. Combined with everyday sunshine (unbelievable but true) these were perfect holidays. We are sure that we spend our next holidays in Scotland again at Linnhe Croft Cottages.”
Mr & Mrs Bresler-Radeck, Schwalbach, Germany. May 2016
“Magnificent views over to Lismore and to Morvern Hills and the passing sailing traffic is fascinating. Cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. Linnhe Croft has proved to be an ideal spot for a relaxing, refreshing and interesting holiday.”
Mr & Mrs Paterson, Cheshire, UK, June 2016
“This is a good location for seeing the wide variety of what Scotland has to offer visitors, and has one of those continually changing views, with the tide, bobbing boats, and wildlife that you can’t help but enjoy watching. We had a week of perfect weather, and only a short walk to an excellent seafood restaurant helped to make it an enjoyable and memorable stay.”
Mr & Mrs Plank, Avon, UK, May 2016
“Lovely cottage with stunning views across the loch from the rooms and garden. All home comforts and within easy walk of the pub and ferry to Lismore.”
Mr & Mrs Bavister, Gloucesterhire, UK, May 2016
“Exceeded all our expectations; stunning landscapes, mountains, lochs, wildlife and great local food. Linnhe Croft cottages provide breath-taking views directly onto the loch – when my husband asked me what was my favourite part of my holiday I said staring at the view from the cottage. The cottages are pretty and well equipped, they are situated in a great position with a local shop and bar/restaurant within walking distance away, as well as a headland walk which we and our small kids really enjoyed. Thank you Linnhe Croft we’ll definitely be back.”
Mr & Mrs Cunningham, Worcestershire, April 2016
“We spent a week at Heather Cottage in May, 2016. It is spacious and light, well furnished, clean and has a well appointed kitchen. We enjoyed good weather, but if it is cold the heating is very effective. The view from the lounge over the water to Lismore, and beyond, is spectacular, and changes with the light during the day. It is perfect for a self-catering holiday, but if you want to eat out there are three good restaurants within a fifteen minute drive, two of them much closer. There are many walks, short and long, close by in the surrounding countryside. We had a lovely relaxing week in Heather Cottage, and recommend it to others.”
Mr & Mrs Glover, Victoria, Australia, May 2016
“Great holiday! Enjoyed watching the fledgling swallows learning to fly in the garden. Also enjoyed the wonderful sunsets – better than a night at the cinema!”
Christine Alison, Glasgow, August 2015
“We stayed 1 week in August in Heather cottage. The cottage has all comforts and we had a great welcome from the owners. The place is just perfect for us with our young daughter.”
Patrice Laetitia and Lucie Chamel, France, August 2015
“We had a wonderful weeks stay in beautiful Port Appin. The cottage was lovely, very comfortable and spacious with everything you could possibly need. It’s just a short stroll to the small harbour and the amazing Pierhouse Restaurant. As well as beautiful evening meals they have a lovely lunchtime menu or just pop in for a coffee and watch the boats & wildlife. We took the passenger ferry to Lismore and walked to the Visitors centre for lunch stopping constantly to admire the great wildlife. We managed to do so much in a week, wildlife tour on Mull, Caledonian Canal, Ben Nevis and much more but it was always great to come back to a warm and comfortable cottage, sit on the terrace and watch the amazing sunsets.”
Mr & Mrs Reynolds Leigh, Lancashire, May 2015
“We had a fantastic week and were extremely lucky with the weather and are planning a return visit next year sometime, the cottage was lovely and the surrounding area and views were amazing, we were both hooked.”
Julia, Morpeth, August 2015
“Great cottage, very clean and kept in good order, spacious, well equipped, very comfortable, great location. Breakfast on the patio with mountain views was a great start to the day. Fabulous sunsets also viewed from the patio was a wonderful way to finish the day. We had a fantastic week here. The neighbours even allowed us access to the shore to launch our kayak. We go somewhere different in Scotland every year and have stayed in a lot of cottages, this is up there with the best we have experienced.”
Tony & Donna, West Bromwich, April 2015
“Linnhe Croft Holiday Cottages has been our destination at Easter time, for the last three years (plus a holiday a few years before that!) We love to return because of the stunning location, facilities and things to do in the area. Waking up in the morning to views of the sea loch is our highlight. This year we even managed 2 days skiing using the cottage as a base!
The cottage is a perfect holiday home for a family of 4, cosy yet spacious with all that is needed for a great holiday.”
The Cox Family, April 2015, Cambridge
